I don't know if you can say this about one's own work, but I find something very mesmerizing about this photograph. Maybe it's the romantic hazy NY skyline, the way they are both locked in thought, or the calm before the storm feel that you get in a disaster movie (yknow, an asteroid or a monster is about to attack??). Either way, it's making me crave my yearly city holiday (x3). This year hopefully will include Spain, Indonesia (again, eughhh, I hate flying!), Thailand and Hong Kong (I love my boyfriend's parents).

I flew up to Glasgow mid February as Semifinalists were in the middle of their tour supporting Lightspeed Champion. I'd only ever spent two days in Glasgow previous (while on tour with Good Shoes) and had spent most of it walking around Superdrug, eating, sleeping or at the cinema.

This time, we took cabs everywhere and explored the city. Watched "Now, Voyager" at the GFT (heartbreaking - and aptly, on Valentines Day), had dinner at 13th Note, went to galleries, watched Nick eat 20 chicken wings for £2 at a sports bar, took more cabs, ate in little cafes... crammed a whole weekends worth of sightseeing into a day and a half and then was back on the plane and home to my parents house all within 4 hours!

I am trying to see how close I can get into strangers faces.

Before we ventured home from Leeds Festival, I stuffed a huge piece of (probably the world's greatest) chocolate cake into my mouth and washed it down with a can of fizzy drink. Forgetting I had over 5 hours in a small van, I suddenly started to feel very queasy as we wound round tiny roads and onto the motorway.

Everyone was engrossed with a book or newspaper. Being prone to mad travel sickness, I sat and waited for someone to play Who Is It? with me (the fake version of Guess Who). For 5 and a half hours.

The prettiest kitten. The absolute love of my life and the reason I can no longer feel miserable. He follows me around like a dog, watches me take a bath, watches me type, watches me cook dinner... and when I sleep, he curls in a ball beside me and sleeps silently for 9 hours and then pats my face in the morning to wake up. Ah, my heart wants to burst whenever I look at his little rat body.

Ignore the fingerprints. I wish I knew how to Photoshop marks out! Or Photoshop in general.

02:53 pm: Reading Festival 2007 Part 1
It's essential to use a light meter when dealing with a temperamental 35mm camera. Mine hadn't worked for close to two years when, all of sudden, it suddenly swung into life as I was standing in front of 5,000 fans at Reading Festival, wearing a bright yellow skirt that drew too much attention.

Walking out in front of that many people was nerve wracking. There was nowhere to hide and my knees kept knocking together. But after a while, I forgot they were there and roamed the stage, trying hard not to trip over wires.

I'm really pleased with how these turned out. Without a light meter, they'd be blurry, smoky and tinged with a red haze.
